Board of Education Regular Public Meeting Feb. 08, 2011

The next regular meeting of the Sunshine Coast Board of Education will be Feb. 08, 2011, 7:00pm, at the School Board office. Did you know that the agendas for regular public meetings are available on the Friday prior to meetings? Here are a few highlights:

We have an interesting, education related presentation to start meetings off. It’s worth coming just to watch the presentations. And, yes, you could theoretically leave right after.

Motions to be considered:

2010/2011 Amended Annual Budget Bylaw

The following motions are requested:

 

THAT the School District No. 46 (Sunshine Coast) Amended Annual

Budget Bylaw, in the amount of $36,710,649.00 for the fiscal year 2010/2011

be read for a first time.”

“THAT the School District No. 46 (Sunshine Coast) Amended Annual

Budget Bylaw, in the amount of $36,710,649.00 for the fiscal year 2010/2011

be read for a second time.”

“THAT the School District No. 46 (Sunshine Coast) Amended Annual

Budget Bylaw, in the amount of $36,710,649.00 for the fiscal year 2010/2011

be read for a third time, passed and adopted.”

That Davis Bay and Langdale Elementary Schools each be given the opportunity to submit a proposal to the Board requesting funding (not to exceed $15,000) to offer additional programs that support their school growth plans and the strategic plan of School District 46.

The request will include a broad outline of plans to utilize the funds for the 2010/2011 school year. Approved requests will be funded from the unallocated surplus.”

Rationale: School District 46 ensures that all schools have an adequate operating

budget, yet some schools receive funding for additional programming to support

students.

 

“That Davis Bay and Langdale elementary each receive funding (not to exceed $15,000) for the 2011/2012 school year to support additional programming.”

Rationale: Schools will be able to plan for the future and with more foresight if

they know funds will be available to support programs began in 2010/2011.
